Tom Foley Visits the Interval House Domestic Violence Shelter

Press Release

Date: Sept. 30, 2010

Yesterday, Tom Foley stopped at the Interval House domestic violence shelter in downtown Hartford. His visit followed an invitation from Rosemary Padin, Development Director, whom he met at the Connecticut Women's Expo several weeks ago. Cecile Enrico, Executive Director of Interval House, explained to Tom what Interval House does for its clients and gave him a tour of the facility.

"I admire the commitment and dedication of Cecile Enrico and the staff at Interval House. They are fighting the scourge of domestic violence and providing a critical service to our communities. Non-profit's like Interval House are an important compliment to the social services provided by our state agencies," said Tom Foley. "When asked what could be done to help her efforts, Cecile Enrico pleaded for continued funding for a recently passed bill that will provide GPS tracking of domestic abusers under restraining orders. I told her that despite our fiscal problems, I don't believe funding for a program that protects women from violent abusers is optional. If I am elected governor, I will find a way to fund it, even if it means finding private contributors to support it."
